Gerry Brown joins QB Partners Expert Panel
QB Partners have announced that industry stalwart and tax expert Gerry Brown has joined their Expert Panel.
The Expert Panel primarily consists of tax advisers and other industry experts, with whom QB Partners work, to supplement and enhance their extensive internal knowledge. Gerry has been appointed as a Trust and Estate Planning Specialist, which will give QB Partners Trust and Estate Planning team access to an extremely experienced, well qualified resource, in order to confirm their own thinking on complex matters and to have their work peer reviewed. He will also be able to assist QB Partners in developing industry thought leadership.
David White, Managing Director of QB Partners said, "Gerry is very well known and highly respected in the financial services industry and we are extremely pleased that he has agreed to join our Expert Panel. This announcement follows on from the recent appointment of Kevin Raftery as a Trust and Estate Planning Consultant. QB Partners are building an extremely strong team of technical consultants with expertise in a number of areas of financial planning, allowing us to provide true holistic support to professional advisers and product providers. Gerry is based in Edinburgh and his appointment also advances QB Partners ambitions to have local representation in the key financial centres of the UK."
Gerry started his professional career as an Inspector of Taxes in what was then the Inland Revenue. On leaving, he worked as a tax specialist for a number of accountancy practices, also qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
In the mid-1990s Gerry joined a large UK life office where he provided technical support on a wide variety of matters and assisted in the development of a number of bond-trust arrangements widely used in IHT planning. He has written extensively for the 'trade' and professional press on a variety of tax related issues.
